Upward Home Solutions is committed to revitalizing neighborhoods, one house at a time. We believe that communities are lifted up through investment. One way our company helps people is by buying houses that have fallen into disrepair. For example, we invest our time and money into fixing them up and finding a new family to make memories in the home. Our renovations increase the value of the house, allowing money to flow back into schools, supporting city infrastructure, and funding libraries through property taxes.
Upward Home Solutions is proud of our most recent neighborhood revitalizing project.
An elderly couple owned this home in Westerville for nearly 40 years. At this point in their lives, they were ready to downsize. Because the house had not been updated in a long time, the homeowners did not want to spend the money or take the time to fix things up. The neighborhood, too, was ready for revitalizing.
A real estate agent suggested that they would need to spend at least $30,000 to renovate the kitchen and bathrooms. If that wasn’t enough, there would be a lengthy process of going through years of accumulated stuff, placing extra furniture in a storage unit, and staging the house for showings. None of this seemed like a good idea to the couple who were ready to move on with the next phase of their lives. In the end, they were ready to sell their house to a local buyer without listing with a realtor.
They called Upward Home Solutions, Columbus’ honest, local, cash buyer.
Upward Home Solutions was able to offer the homeowner a fair deal, and we closed quickly.
The house included a lot of dark wood features, including oak cabinets in the kitchen.
After purchasing the house, Upward Home Solutions removed all of the old flooring and cabinets. They were replaced with fresh white cabinets, stainless steel appliances, grey tile, wood flooring, and new lighting fixtures.
To give the kitchen a more open, airy feel, we tore out the half wall that separated the kitchen from the dining area. Now, a kitchen island gives more counter space and storage without blocking light.
Unbelievably, the renovation makes the kitchen feel at least twice as large. The whole first floor is now open from the kitchen through the dining area and into the living room. It’s perfect for entertaining or families.
The bathroom included “French Country” glazed cabinets from the 1980s. Yuck!
But after the renovation, the bathroom is clean and bright. We kept the double sinks in the large bathroom because we know couples like to have their own space!
Before, the house had brown carpet and green walls.
In the main living area, there was a big fireplace that looked like it should be from the show “The Brady Bunch.”
We painted the brick, replaced the flooring, and painted the walls in our favorite grey.
Although we loved the big windows that let in lots of light, we replaced the curtains with new blinds.
Can you believe how spacious this room looks now?!
This is the room in the lower level of the house. Additionally, the door goes out to the back yard.
And the entry is ah-mazing!
UHS prides itself on quality work.
Revitalizing neighborhoods isn’t just our slogan… it’s our mission. Upward Home Solutions is committed to investing in communities, giving a new generation of home owners a better life. Re-using houses is an environmental commitment, too. Re-doing an old house uses fewer resources than building new ones.
“They Don’t Build ‘Em Like They Used To”
Upward Home Solutions looks for houses with “good bones.” We don’t mind getting our hands dirty with the restoration work. In fact, we prefer to buy houses as is.
Upward Home Solutions invested money and time to turn this fifty year old house into a home for the 21st century family. We know that revitalizing neighborhoods takes time and money. We are willing to invest both.
If you know of a house that could use our TLC, we buy houses for cash. Is there a house with an overgrown lawn in your neighborhood? Do you have a family member who has recently moved to senior care? We have a sweet referral program and if we buy the house you refer us, we will give you a generous thank you gift.
